Dr. Abdullah Al Hadi
Subject Matter Expert – Power Electronics

Dr. Abdullah Al Hadi is a Subject Matter Expert – Power Electronics at Stellantis. He was a Technical Specialist for Power Electronics and Electric Machine Drives at CNH Industrial. He is the subject matter expert for high-voltage power components selection, requirement specifications, product development, and validation. Previously he was with Enginuity Power System as a Senior R&D Engineer for Power Electronics and Smart Energy Systems. From May 2021 to June 2022, he was with the SPARK Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Kentucky as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. Before that, he was with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) as a Post Graduate with a main research focus on power electronics-based microgrid control with blockchain technology. His expertise includes power electronics, motor drives, control systems, BEV, distributed energy resources, smart homes, and energy management systems.

Dr. Hadi received his Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University Kingsville in May 2020. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2011, and a dual M.Sc. degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, and Energy Engineering and Management from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain and Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, Portugal respectively in 2012 and 2013. From 2014 to 2015, Dr. Hadi was with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Prime University, Bangladesh as a faculty member where he also served as a program coordinator (EEE), and assistant proctor of the university. He has over 25 scientific publications and he is a currently a senior member of IEEE, IEEE Power Electronics Society, IEEE Power and Energy Society, IET, SPIE, and ASEE. He also serves as a guest editor for IMDP electronics, Technical Vice Chair for IEEE ECCE conference, and serves as a reviewer for prestigious IEEE journals and conferences.

Dr. Ahad Ali is an associate professor, director of doctor of engineering in advanced manufacturing and director of industrial engineering programs (BSIE & MSIE) at A. Leon Linton Department of Mechanical, Robotics, and Industrial Engineering of the Lawrence Technological University (LTU), Southfield, Michigan, USA. He established the Siemens Electro-Matic Industrial Engineering Lab at LTU. Dr. Ali was the primary author of the ABET self-study report of the BSIE Program at LTU in 2022. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Bangladesh, a Master’s in Systems and Engineering Management from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. Dr. Ali was an Assistant Professor in Industrial Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez, a Visiting Assistant Professor in Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Toledo, and a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Khulna. He received an Outstanding Professor Award from the Industrial Engineering Department, University of Puerto Rico -Mayaguez. Dr. Ali has been recognized with a Fulbright Award. He has published 75 journal papers and 150 conference papers. Dr Ali conducted research projects with Chrysler, Ford, DTE Energy, New Center Stamping, Whelan Co., Delphi Automotive System, GE Medical Systems, International Truck and Engine Corporation (ITEC), and Rockwell Automation. His research interests include manufacturing systems, quality, lean, six-sigma, simulation, artificial intelligence, supply chain, and optimization. He supervised 11 doctoral students in Doctor of Engineering in Manufacturing Systems (DEMS). He is a founding team member and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IEOM Society International. Dr. Ali is a Co-Chair of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management. Dr. Ali organized IEOM conferences around the globe on six continents including Dhaka, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Bali, Dubai, Orlando, Detroit, Rabat, Bristol, Bogota, Paris, Washington, DC, Lima, Johannesburg, Bangkok, Pilsen, Toronto, Costa Rica, Monterrey, Sao Paulo, Riyadh, Manila, Melbourne, New Delhi, Sydney, Augsburg, Tokyo, and Muscat. He is an associate editor of the IJIEOM. Dr. Ali is a member of IEOM, INFORMS, SME, and IEEE.

Dr. ABM Iftekharul Islam is a Virtual Design and Performance Engineer at General Motors in Michigan, where he applies advanced simulation and durability methods to next-generation vehicle programs. He holds a Ph.D. in Nanoengineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Dr. Islam has over a decade of experience contributing to multiple automotive and aerospace organizations and has deep expertise in product design and development, as well as career counseling and mentoring peers. He worked on a training needs analysis program at the Bangladesh Airline Training Center, where he designed and delivered professional training curricula to enhance technical workforce capability and operational performance.

He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and STEM outreach initiatives, including hands-on science and mobile demonstrations to encourage student interest in engineering and nanoscience disciplines as documented in the Journal of STEM Education: Innovations and Research—programs that connect university resources with underserved school communities to motivate entry into STEM fields. An active member of professional societies such as SAE, ASME, and SAMPE, Dr. Islam pairs technical expertise with a strong commitment to education and industry workforce development.


Mahmudur Rahman, Ph.D.

Dr. Mahmudur Rahman is an assistant professor of mechanical and manufacturing engineering at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville in December 2021. Before joining BGSU, Dr Rahman completed several postdocs, including at Argonne National Laboratory and University of Delaware. Previously He also served as a visiting assistant professor in the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Texas Permian Basin. His research spans liquid interface merging, colloidal self-assembly, hydrogel fabrication, and thermo-fluid analysis. Dr. Rahman’s work has been published in esteemed journals like the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Langmuir, and Physics of Fluids. He has received awards such as the ASGSR International Space Station U.S. National Lab Best Poster Award and has been nominated for the Best Robotics Paper Award at MARSS. He has presented his work at numerous conferences (17 talks and presentations), notably at the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics, ACS Colloid & Surface Science, AIChE Annual Meeting etc. He has served as PI for a laboratory equipment grant for Integrated Manufacturing and Energy Systems from the Ohio department of higher education. Dr. Rahman regularly organizes and volunteers at python programming and robotics workshops for K-12 students.


Shafiul Ehsan

Shafiul Ehsan currently serves as both a Feature Owner and Senior System Engineer within the Body Control Systems group under the Embedded Platform Systems and Infrastructure organization at General Motors. In this capacity, he leads product development activities for multiple features across GM’s portfolio.

He holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University and is currently pursuing an MS in Energy Systems and Sustainability Engineering at the University of Michigan.

With over 15 years of experience across the automotive and mobile device industries, Shafiul has built strong expertise in cross-functional leadership and product ownership. As a Feature Owner and Product Manager, he leads teams in both Michigan and India, oversees and reviews engineering deliverables, collaborates closely with program teams, and evaluates market needs and customer preferences to define and refine future GM features functionalities. As a system engineer, Shafiul is responsible for designing and defining system requirements across multiple layers of the architecture.
